A part of the 4.6 million masks bought by Iberdrola in China arrives to Spain

Part of the 4.6 million masks that Iberdrola will donate for the fight against the coronavirus and that were bought in China arrived last Saturday at the military base of Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), according to the company.
Iberdrola, which pointed out that it has put its global supply access capacity at the service of the Administration to acquire basic medical equipment, indicated that troops from the Armed Forces are collecting the material acquired by the company directly in Shanghai (China), through its supplier Wootoline, for its subsequent distribution in the different logistics centers that the Army has throughout the country.
The energy company reminded that this week it also received a batch of certified disposable protective suits, managed by the company Iturri, Iberdrola's supplier, for the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health.
In this context, he pointed out that, like the other material addressed to the Administrations, this was transported by commercial aircrafts and, moreover, stored until its distribution at Iberdrola's corporate campus in San Agustín del Guadalix (Madrid), which has been converted into a warehouse.
The company expects that “in the next few days” 438 respirators will arrive, of which 400 were managed by Amara and the remaining 38 by Viral Health. They will also receive a “large batch” of protective glasses and more masks and medical suits, purchased with the help of this same supplier.
The Spanish multinational highlighted that, in addition to the 4.6 million masks and 438 respirators, it has also purchased 120,000 suits and 20,000 protective glasses, all through suppliers Iturri, Wottoline, Amara and Viral Health.
On the other hand, Iberdrola assured that it has distributed a batch of material valued at 100,000 euros consisting of nitrile gloves, disposable suits, masks, glasses, semi-masks, hydro-alcoholic gel, gowns and sleeves in the Basque Country. The acquisition of this equipment has been managed with the support of Iturri, El Corte Inglés, Guerín-Sonepar, Centralcom, Central del Regalo and Ceminorte.
These donations are part of its plan to spend at least 25 million euros on the donation of health and prevention materials to mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, Iberdrola announced its intention to accelerate its investment plan, for an amount of 10,000 million euros in 2020, with the objective of “contributing in this way to the maintenance of economic activity and employment”.
