The price of electricity would fall with an agreement between gas and electricity companies

Sources in the electricity sector have revealed that there is no need for intervention by the national government because an agreement between the gas companies and the electricity companies would be possible, leading to a generalised reduction in electricity tariffs.
A gas price reduction of 10€ kW/h, would have a very positive impact, around 25€, on the price of electricity. This could be done through a market agreement, without the need for any government intervention.
Even so, gas companies would maintain a very high margin for the gas sector, considering import prices of around €60 (CNMC figures).
This idea clearly shows that the so-called windfall profits of the electricity companies do not exist. If they did exist, the electricity companies themselves would have no interest in promoting a lower gas price.
These same sources state that according to the General Directorate of Customs, gas enters Spain for 58 € Mwh, the average figure for the month of December 2021, and was sold that same month on the domestic market for 111 € Mwh, a margin of 100 × 100, i.e. they sell at twice what they buy.
The electricity companies, faced with such a brutal margin for gas, propose to negotiate with the gas companies so that every €10 reduction in this large margin, the price of electricity falls by €25, without the need for government intervention.
