Global Traveler, the prestigious and renowned magazine that rates the world's airlines, has held its annual awards ceremony in one of the theatres in Los Angeles, United States, where the 18th edition of the GT Tested Reader Survey, a reference list among high-end travel companies and the airline industry, was held.

Through the survey organised by Global Traveler, in which around 20,000 subscribers participated in this ranking, this year's award for the Best Airline in Africa went to Royal Maroc Air (RAM), one of the most important airlines born in the Alawi country.

"We are delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award and to be recognised as the best airline in Africa. This recognition comes from the direct testimony of our customers, all over the world. It crowns the daily efforts of our 4,000 employees to deliver the highest standards of service excellence, safety and comfort at all levels of the customer experience. This Global Traveler Award motivates us above all to keep moving forward and improving, despite the difficult times our industry is going through," said Hamid Addou, President and CEO of RAM.

Royal Air Maroc was also commended for its work and named the fourth best airline operating in the Middle East, North Africa and MENA region. It is only beaten by Etihad Airways, Emirates Airways and Qatar Airways. And the awards don't end there, as the same magazine also awarded RAM the title of 'Best Global Airline Alliance', marking its 12th consecutive year receiving this title.

The distinctions for the airline do not end here, because since its inception, this Moroccan company has managed to carve a niche for itself in the world of transport, and the rewards obtained speak of its quality and safety. The international air transport rating organisation known as Skytrax, which every year makes a global ranking of airlines and airports around the world, named the Moroccan airline in 2019 and for the sixth time as the best regional airline in Africa. In turn and for these awards, the brand has the four-star Skytrax seal, a highly coveted award for airlines worldwide. In September this year, the same brand named it the best airline alliance and in November it won the award for Best Alliance in the World at the Best in Business Travel Awards, a ceremony organised by Business Traveler USA.

Royal Air Maroc is a company dedicated to the air transport sector and was founded in 1953, 68 years ago, with its headquarters at the airport in the city of Casablanca-Anfa. It is Morocco's largest airline and is wholly owned by the Moroccan government. It operates to all cities in the country, with direct connections to Rabat, Tangier, Tetouan, Marrakech, Essaouira, Agadir, Ourzazate, Ojuda, Daklha and Fez, among others. But the airline also operates throughout the world. Its main destinations are most of the countries of Europe, it has connections with some of the cities on the east coast of the United States; it also connects with Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; it works with several airports in some central African cities such as N'djamena and Bangui. Finally, it has daily flights to and from the Middle East, to destinations such as Beirut, Amman and Riyadh.

In 2020, RAM joined OneWorld, the world's first airline alliance. This cooperation between airlines includes the famous British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia and others. The aim of these agreements is to make travellers choose the airlines that are part of this alliance and make them their main choice when looking for flights.
