The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the general director of the Renault Morocco Group, Mohamed Bachiri, emphasized that the production of this model is made with in-house engineering and manufacturing equipment, which constitutes a new step in the industrialization of Morocco

The engineering and manufacturing teams at SOMOCA's Renault Morocco Group plant in Casablanca have started manufacturing the Renault Kardian with their own means after 6,000 hours of training.

The production of this model at the Moroccan plant will be destined for the local market and for export, with a new production record of more than 100,000 vehicles expected to be set, which will contribute to strengthening Morocco's production capacity in the automotive sector and will boost the worldwide diffusion of the “made in Morocco” brand.

At the presentation ceremony, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezoour, accompanied by the CEO of the Renault Morocco Group, Mohammed Bachiri, congratulated all the employees of the SOMACA factory and stressed that the Renault Kardian model will contribute to strengthening Morocco's position as a production and export platform for automobiles and diversify national exports by accessing new markets, especially in Africa, the Gulf, Ukraine and Guadeloupe.

Mezzour also stressed that “the success of the Renault Group's integrated industrial system in Morocco is a clear translation of King Mohammed VI's vision that has created the boom in the industrial sector over the past 25 years as Morocco was able to consolidate its position as a strategic hub for global industrial supply and export.”

Mohammed Bachiri expressed with great pride that “today we take a new step with the industrialization of the Renault Kardian at our pioneering plant in the Moroccan automotive industry, SOMACA, which reinforces its key role in the Group's international industrial scene and confirms Morocco's place as an important industrial platform and an essential export base for the Renault Group.”

He noted that "the Group's industrial system in Morocco continues its transformation and pushes all producers to be more competitive, more flexible driven by new technologies ‘ and announced that ’as a guarantee of its level of performance and competitiveness, SOMACA will surpass this year a new production record with more than 100,000 vehicles.”

With these figures, SOMACA's historic plant contributes to the Group's objective of increasing the Moroccan industrial cluster's production capacity to 500,000 vehicles per year by 2025, with the achievement of a production capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year by the end of 2024.

Furthermore, Bachiri assured that “this is an opportunity to pay tribute once again to all our SOMACA employees whose commitment no longer needs to be demonstrated and that the industrialization of Kardian in SOMACA marks a key step in the international brand strategy Renault International Game Plan 2027, reinforcing Morocco's position as an important industrial platform for the Renault Group.”

Renault Kardian is a compact, urban B-segment SUV that inaugurates the Renault Group's new modular and ultra-versatile platform, enabling the development of a wide variety of models for many markets outside Europe.

The Renault Kardian “made in Morocco” project has been entirely realized by Moroccan experts and will be destined for the local market and for export to some fifteen countries.

Minister Mezzour and CEO Bachiri were joined at the ceremony by Mohammed Amhidia, Governor of the Casablanca-Settat region, Nabila Rmeili, Mayor of Casablanca, Miguel Oliver Boquera, CEO of the Tangier and Somaca plants, Mohammed Bennani, CEO of the Renault Morocco brand, and representatives of the French Embassy in Morocco, as well as executives and players in the automotive sector.
