Tesla's official arrival in Morocco is more than just the entry of a major automotive brand into Africa. From 6 February, Casablanca will have the company's first commercial outlet in Africa. A pop-up store will open in the AnfaPlace Mall Casablanca - Floor 0, Boulevard de la Corniche 20000, Casablanca, and the Model 3 and Model Y will be available for direct sale to those wishing to purchase them in Morocco.
Tesla in figures and the context of electric vehicles in Morocco
The global weight of the American company is helping the movement. Tesla closed 2025 with nearly 1.8 million vehicles delivered and revenues exceeding 90 billion dollars. These figures place the company as a global benchmark in the electric vehicle market, despite the rise of Chinese brands such as ByD.
Morocco has established itself as Africa's leading electric vehicle market. Electric vehicle sales grew by 176.5% in the first half of 2025, accounting for nearly 10% of total vehicle sales.
Morocco has established itself as Africa's leading market for electric vehicles. Sales of electric vehicles grew by 176.5% in the first half of 2025, accounting for nearly 3% of the total market. Although the market continues to be dominated by generalist and low-cost brands such as Dacia and Renault, Tesla's entry represents an important step for brands considered to be premium.
Entering a new market requires investment in infrastructure, technical services and trained personnel, needs that Morocco more than meets. That is why Elon Musk's company will face no obstacles, but rather the opposite: all kinds of facilities.
Infrastructure, technical services and charging deployment
Tesla Morocco, which was established in May 2025 with headquarters in Casablanca Marina and capital of more than $3 million, already has 24 Supercharger stations in operation across key cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakesh, Tangier, Fez and Agadir. In addition, Morocco has more than 1,000 charging points throughout the country.
These are located at strategic points on Moroccan roads and in the most visited places in the country. This involves the formalisation of several agreements with local suppliers and partners, ranging from contracts for civil works and the installation of permanent services such as electricity, to the necessary maintenance of equipment and the coordination of logistics.
Local agreements, logistics and operational training
It is also necessary for staff to be well trained to handle daily operations, provide technical support and ensure good quality customer service for smooth operation.
The economic impact is strengthened by the incentive framework that Rabat has implemented in recent years. The New Investment Charter, in force since 2023, offers direct subsidies for strategic projects, such as tax exemptions and support for green industry and energy transition initiatives.
Investment incentives and green industry strategy
Furthermore, Tesla's incorporation is in line with the preferences of the Moroccan state. In recent years, the CGEM and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) have worked hard to support multinational companies, particularly in the technology and industry sectors. This effort reflects a strategic vision for the future of transport in the region.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to develop local capacities and attract the necessary investments. The initiative could boost growth in the sector, which in turn would be beneficial for the economy.
Public-private cooperation and membership of the Tesla ecosystem
To achieve this, we need the government and private industry to work together. Tesla intends to use Morocco's consolidated logistics network, its established automotive industry and its continental leadership in renewable energy to achieve this goal.
Tesla's arrival undoubtedly supports this ambition and sends a direct message to other international players that the country is not limited to consuming local technology, but also establishes favourable conditions to attract it and enable its development. With this step, Morocco becomes the first African country to fully belong to the Tesla ecosystem.
