  1. Trade relations with Morocco

The new Consul General of the Kingdom of MoroccoMohammed Yebari, has visited the Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao, where he was received by its president, José Ignacio Zudaire. During the meeting both have talked about the different areas of collaboration for the development of trade relations between Bizkaia and Morocco, as well as investment opportunities, collaboration and business offered by both territories.

Strategically located in the northwest corner of the African continent, Morocco is the world's leading producer and exporter of phosphates, and has an industrial sector that has been consolidating in recent years, especially in the automotive and aeronautical sectors, and with the establishment of important brands in the textile industry. It is also a strategic logistics platform for trade between Africa, Asia and Europe.

Trade relations with Morocco

In 2024, Bizkaia exported goodsto Morocco for an amount of more than 144 million euros, especially under the headings Capital goods (36.42 million euros); Food, beverages and tobacco (41.10 million); and Semi-manufactures (26.68 million).

As far as imports are concerned, in the same period, goods were imported for a value of more than 18 million euros. Among the main import chapters to Bizkaia, the following stand out: Food, beverages and tobacco (8.82 million); Semi-manufactures (5.5 million); and Raw materials (1.44 million).
