Spain must demand transparency by publishing the agreement's full text, subject it to parliamentary scrutiny, and devise a long-term strategy prioritising sovereignty

Gustavo de Arístegui, diplomat, ambassador and member of parliament for the Popular Party, analysed the importance and consequences of the agreement signed between the United Kingdom, Spain and the European Union on Gibraltar on 13 June 2025 on his Substack blog. In addition, the MP pointed out how the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, had failed to take advantage of a unique opportunity to make a claim on the Rock.
