Trade war, suicidal protectionism

It does not seem proportionate that two very close partners such as Canada and Mexico should be subject to higher tariffs than China, which is defined as the United States' main adversary

Gustavo de Arístegui, diplomat, ambassador and member of parliament for the Popular Party, wrote on La Razón on 4 February 2025 about the lack of consistency in the application of harsh tariffs against Canada and Mexico, when Washington's economic rival is understood to be China.
