CT leads the Artificial Intelligence project KOIOS supported by the European Defence Fund, valued at 10 million euros
CT, a leading engineering company in technological innovation throughout the product life cycle, as leader of the consortium, will coordinate the KOIOS Artificial Intelligence for Defence initiative, selected by the European Commission within the EDF 2021 call, the results of which have been published. "The award of this project is a double milestone for CT, both for its role as coordinator in such a large project, valued at €10 million, and for being the first time that the EU has funded an AI research project in the Defence sector. We are proud to reinforce our role as a driving force for Industry 4.0 in the Defence sector in Europe," explains David Prieto, CT's Innovation Director.
The KOIOS project aims to explore 'frugal' machine learning, an innovative approach for rapid adaptation of AI systems in military scenarios with little data or limited computational capacity. To this end, the consortium will develop a collaborative platform for AI experts and military operators to share data, models and knowledge. The project will investigate rapidly deployable AI models, where there are no AI-savvy users or where they have to adapt to unfamiliar threats.
KOIOS is designed to ensure humane, safe, explainable and ethical monitoring according to EU-developed standards.
