Huawei presents solutions for Africa's digital transition

During the GITEX Africa technology event, held between 31 May and 2 June, Chinese technology giant Huawei showcased its solutions aimed at facilitating the continent's digital transition. The company presented a range of technologies and services focused on making Africa's digital expansion more efficient and faster.

Huawei highlighted its cloud infrastructure as a key offering during the "Unleash Digital for New Africa" event at GITEX. Colin Hu, Huawei's executive president of cloud for North Africa, highlighted the importance of Huawei's cloud service. The company aims to establish a sovereign service following the sanctions imposed on Huawei in 2018 by former US president Donald Trump.

Morocco World News reports that Huawei's cloud service, which operates on an "all-as-a-service" approach, seeks to enhance the company's technology offerings globally. Huawei expanded its data centre network to more than 170 countries, improving global accessibility to collaborative tools and data. 

The company also aims to foster innovation by investing in research and development and improving human resources in the industry. Huawei's cloud services have enabled more than 40,000 partners and 4 million developers worldwide to create sustainable digital solutions.

Huawei has also secured partnerships with governments in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Brazil and South Africa, further consolidating its presence.

Huawei's programme for Africa's digital transition revolves around three main pillars: digital infrastructure, support for startups and digital governance to improve the quality of life.

Chakib Achour, Huawei's chief strategy officer, highlighted the company's role in developing digital infrastructure tailored to Africa's needs. The company has been involved in several projects, such as cybersecurity centres, data centres and improved connectivity

Moreover, access to electricity and connectivity services remains a challenge in Africa, and Huawei aims to address these issues through the solutions presented. The company aims to provide reliable coverage in various areas, ensuring access to the latest technologies for all.

Huawei also emphasises the use of digital infrastructure and technology for a greener transition in Africa.

In addition, Adnane Benhalima, Huawei's vice president of public relations for North Africa, stressed the importance of technology for the economy in general, not just for entertainment. The company aims to provide digital technologies to all individuals and households anytime, anywhere.

Huawei's smart solutions for government enable tax collection and enhance national security through advanced data analytics and intelligent systems.

For the financial sector, the benefit focuses on improved connectivity and communication solutions, revolutionising data transfer between banks and enabling more efficient video meetings. 

In education and healthcare, the company's concepts for hospitals and smart classrooms leverage big data and AI technologies to improve efficiency and convenience.
