Morocco is in the hackers' sights

Cybersecurity and attack monitoring company Hack Manak has published a report on its website on the countries affected by cyberattacks during the week of 4 to 10 June. Out of a total of 34 countries, Morocco was the third most affected with 27 attacks during that time period.
Overall, the attacks affected approximately 16.6 terabytes and 73 digital offensives, with Italy being the most affected nation, followed by the United States, which suffered 43 attacks, according to the data provided.
According to the company's report, the North African hacker group Keymous+ was responsible for most of the attacks, affecting institutions such as TAQA Maroc, Attijariwafa Bank, CIH, Crédit Agricole, Umniah Bank, the Tax Directorate, Maroc Telecom, among other organisations and companies.
Warnings from Falcon Feeds, a cyberattack warning platform, have been reposted on social network X.
The hacker NoName057(16) has claimed responsibility for a total of 46 of the 218 attacks. One of them was directed at the Moroccan National Airports Office (ONDA).
In the same week, the Algerian group JabaROOT DZ claimed responsibility for the cyberattack on the territory's notarial system. According to Defensa.com, more than 4 terabytes of confidential data worth millions of euros were extracted.
The Directorate-General for National Security and Information Systems (DGSSI) stated that last year Morocco ranked among the 45 countries with the best cybersecurity in the world, according to the International Telecommunication Union. As indicated by the DGSSI, ‘the ITU recognised the work of Morocco’, which achieved a score of 97.5 out of 100. This is a fairly high score for the Moroccan kingdom in terms of protection and defence against cyberattacks.
