Mohammed VI orders the sending of humanitarian aid for the population of Gaza and Jerusalem
King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al Quds Committee, has given instructions to deploy a humanitarian food aid operation, by land, for the Palestinian population of Gaza and the Holy City of Al Quds, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
This aid, which coincides with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, is provided to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly the most vulnerable groups, the statement said.
The aid ordered by the Moroccan monarch for the people of Gaza consists of more than 40 tons of food, including basic necessities.
In addition to the institutional aid, deployed in particular through the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, Mohammed VI has taken charge with his personal funds of a large part of the aid delivered, including in particular that intended for babies and young children, the same source indicates.
Unprecedented land operation
The ministry points out that, since the outbreak of armed hostilities more than 5 months ago, Morocco is the first country to use this unprecedented land route to deliver its humanitarian aid directly to the beneficiaries.
In addition, Mohammed VI as chairman of the Al Quds Committee has instructed the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency to provide food aid to the populations of this Holy City.
2,000 food baskets will be distributed to 2,000 families in Al Quds and 1, 000 meals will be served daily to Palestinians in the city. The aid also includes the provision of an emergency coordination room at the Jerusalem hospital.
This large-scale humanitarian operation for the benefit of the Palestinian population confirms "the effective commitment and ongoing concern of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, chairman of the Al Quds Committee, for the Palestinian cause," the communiqué concludes.
Constant solidarity with Palestine
The aid ordered by the King, is part of a long tradition of active and concrete solidarity with Palestine and the continuity of the Royal concern for the Palestinian people where the monarch is an unfailing defender of the Palestinian people, with quick and effective positions, while clear, unwavering and irreversible.
In this sense, Moroccan solidarity is not dictated by circumstances, but remains constant and permanent because the writings of historians attest that the Moroccan presence in Al Quds and Palestine dates back more than 1,000 years, this aid is further proof that Morocco is a country committed to Palestine and faithful to its traditions.
Mohammed VI's initiative constitutes an unprecedented and unique operation: the aid represents a humanitarian "breakthrough" because it follows an exceptional itinerary.
The Moroccan aid is transported by direct land transport.
The shipment, transported by Moroccan planes to Tel Aviv, was brought by land to Gaza, a land route opened by Morocco which is unprecedented since the outbreak of armed hostilities and which the major powers have failed to carry out, demonstrating the weight, aura, moral authority and credibility of Mohammed VI.
