5 Islamic State terrorists arrested in Morocco

The Moroccan police have arrested five terrorists loyal to the jihadist group Islamic State (IS) in several cities and are preparing to implement "a plan that poses a serious threat to public order".

This Friday, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance (BCIJ) succeeded in destroying a terrorist organisation made up of five people aged between 22 and 46 loyal to the ISIS terrorist organisation.

According to the Central Bureau, the suspects were arrested by the Special Force of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance in Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Martil and the rural community of Onaga in the province of Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Martil and Essaouira. 

Preliminary investigations show that those arrested have pledged allegiance to the ISIS caliphate and expressed their intention to carry out terrorist attacks against key installations and security agencies, as well as engaging in a campaign of violence. 

According to the report, during the same investigation it was discovered that one of the members of the terrorist organisation, an electronics expert, intended to create an explosive device. The same investigation also indicated, according to the report, that one of the members of this terrorist cell, an expert in the field of electronics, had planned to manufacture explosive devices. 

This success is a testament to the continued efficiency and vigilance of the Moroccan security forces. Their hard work and dedication prevented a major threat to Moroccan national security. While terrorism remains a constant threat, such actions demonstrate Morocco's determination to protect its citizens and uphold its values of peace and security. ​
