Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich and two Ukrainian envoys involved in negotiations with Moscow developed symptoms of possible poisoning after a meeting in Kiev last month, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cites "sources familiar with the matter".

The symptoms in all three cases were red eyes, constant and annoying tearing and peeling skin on the hands and face, according to the newspaper, which attributed the possible attack to "radical elements in Moscow" who were trying to boycott the negotiations.

Despite these symptoms, their lives are not in danger and they are all doing well. Abramovich had been travelling between Lviv, Moscow and other capitals in his efforts to mediate between the Russian and Ukrainian governments, and although he met with Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky, the latter was not affected, his spokesman was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

The sources said it was difficult to determine whether the possible poisoning was caused by a chemical or biological agent, or whether it was electromagnetic radiation.
