ASADEDH denounces the attack on a family in a Saharawi refugee camp in Algeria
The Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH) has issued an official press release denouncing the "harsh repression suffered" by the Maichan family in front of the premises of the General Secretariat of the Polisario Front in the refugee camp of Rabuni, in Algeria.
Again, ASADEDH exposes the alleged abuses committed by Polisario representatives against refugees from Western Sahara who do not agree with their ideas.
Below is the full press release from ASADEDH denouncing the facts:
From this association, the Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH), we denounce, condemn and show our strongest repulse to the harsh repression suffered by the Maichan family, in front of the General Secretariat of the Polisario in Rabuni, while they were demonstrating peacefully.
The events occurred yesterday noon, August 9, 2021, when the Maichan family and people in solidarity demanded the immediate evacuation outside the camps of their son injured in hostilities several months ago and who was practically blinded, contrary to what happens when it comes to children or relatives of the Polisario ruling class, who are immediately evacuated abroad.
This association holds responsible for this repression the Government of the Republic of Algeria which allows these violations of elementary rights and this wave of repression against our civilian and defenceless population, which occur on its territory at the hands of the Polisario.
We also call on all the forces of life and human rights defenders to show solidarity with the Maichan family and their seriously wounded son.
