A Norwegian parliamentarian has nominated US President Donald Trump for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for his support of the agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Fox News Radio reported today.

Parliamentarian Christian Tybring-Gjedde is the driving force behind this candidacy, he explained to the channel itself, to which he said that the agreement between Israel and the Emirates is "very significant". On 13 August, Trump announced that Israel and the United Arab Emirates had agreed to establish diplomatic ties as part of a broad agreement by which the Israeli authorities will stop the annexation of the occupied Palestinian territory.

The UAE thus becomes the third Arab country to establish full diplomatic relations with Israel, after Egypt (1979) and Jordan (1994). Donald Trump will host the signing ceremony of the so-called Treaty of Abraham at the White House on 15 September.
