Jordania reafirma su apoyo a la integridad territorial de Marruecos

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has travelled to Amman to meet with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, to discuss bilateral cooperation and various regional issues. During the meeting, the head of Jordanian diplomacy reiterated the Hashemite Kingdom's support for Rabat on the Sahara issue. Safadi pointed out that Jordan maintains a "firm position" on the territorial integrity of Morocco, in addition to supporting a solution in accordance with UN resolutions and on the Moroccan basis in a way that guarantees and protects Rabat's sovereignty "over all its territories".

Bourita, for his part, welcomed Jordan's support on this important issue for Morocco. Amman is a key ally for Rabat. The Hashemite Kingdom has on several occasions expressed its full support for Morocco's plan for the Sahara, including at UN headquarters. That support has been demonstrated through the opening of a Consulate General in Laayoune, where Safadi stressed that Jordan "has been and will always be by Morocco's side".
The head of Moroccan diplomacy highlighted this important partnership during his visit to Amman. "We share the same vision on bilateral, regional and international issues," Bourita said, according to the Jordanian media Ahaqeqa Aldawlia. The minister also praised the "continuous communication" with Jordan, as well as "coordination between the two countries on issues of common interest", reports Al Ain.
Just as Jordan supports Morocco on the Sahara issue, Bourita expressed his country's support for the role of the Hashemite monarchy in the Palestinian cause, in particular King Abdullah II's role as guardian of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. "Morocco supports Jordan's fundamental role in the Palestinian cause and the role of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein with regard to the Islamic Awqaf (charitable properties) in the city of Jerusalem," Bourita said, according to Africa News.
The Moroccan minister said Rabat and Amman were working together to support Jerusalemites and preserve the city's "Arab and Islamic identity".
In this regard, both politicians have advocated a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "We agree that the only resolution to achieve a just and lasting peace will be through a two-state solution," said Safadi.
In addition, during the meeting, Bourita and Safadi discussed other issues related to bilateral cooperation, such as ways to facilitate the issuance of visas and entry procedures for citizens of both countries. The ministers also agreed to hold a meeting of the Joint High Commission between the two countries as soon as possible "to give more economic and humanitarian content to these ties," Bourita added.
Bourita's visit to Jordan coincided with the Eager Lion military manoeuvres taking place in the Arab country. Morocco is one of the nations involved in the exercises, in addition to the United States, Egypt, France, Italy and Jordan, the host country.
According to the Jordanian army, these manoeuvres - which run from 4 to 15 September - are aimed at "working together in the field of counter-terrorism, the development of security capabilities and cooperation between agencies and institutions of different countries to respond to security threats and internal crises", reports The North Africa Post.
