Kiev suffers biggest Russian drone attack since start of invasion

Authorities in Kiev said Sunday that the Ukrainian capital last night suffered the biggest Russian drone attack since the start of the invasion by Moscow's troops, leaving at least one person dead and another injured.
The Kyiv City Military Administration said on its Telegram channel that Ukrainian air defences destroyed more than 40 Iranian-made kamikaze drones in Kyiv airspace.
"This was the most massive drone attack on the capital since the beginning of the full-scale invasion," the institution said.
While noting that there is no conclusive data yet, municipal authorities said that the wreckage of the downed drones caused personal and material damage in several districts of Kiev.
In the Holosiivskyi district in particular, one person was killed and another injured when a seven-storey non-residential building was hit, and several fires were reported.
According to the mayor of Kiev, Vitaliy Klitschko, the first explosions occurred at around 01:00 local time, but the drones continued to arrive in several waves from various directions throughout the night.
Last night, russian terrorists carried out the largest drone strike on Ukraine to date.

According to the Ukrainian Kyiv Independent, the attack could be part of a Russian plan to exhaust Ukrainian anti-aircraft defences, which include US-supplied Patriot anti-missile systems, ahead of the expected Ukrainian counteroffensive.
