El rey de Marruecos inaugura el Hospital Universitario “Mohammed VI” en Tánger
King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Friday in the urban commune of Gueznaya (Prefecture of Tangier-Assilah), the "Mohammed VI" University Hospital Center (CHU), a medical center of excellence that will enable, thanks to its Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, to structure the health offer at the level of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, attract new medical skills and offer advanced training to new generations of professionals.
This hospital center testifies to the King's special interest in the health sector, in particular through the development of hospital infrastructures, the reinforcement and improvement of health services and their proximity to citizens.
As well as the training of human resources in this vital sector and his desire to ensure them a quality qualification adapted to scientific and technological developments in the fields of treatment, prevention, management and health governance, in accordance with international standards.
With a capacity of 797 beds, the new Tangier University Hospital is at the heart of an ecosystem dedicated to healthcare. It has been built on a 23-hectare site (110,000 m2 covered) adjacent to the Regional Oncology Center, near the Higher Institute of Nursing and Health Techniques (ISPITS), and is bordered to the northeast by the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.
A new generation health structure, the "Mohammed VI" University Hospital of Tangier has mobilized investments of more than 2.4 billion dirhams, financed by the State budget and the Qatari Fund for Development. It is modern in terms of its architecture, the quality of the care it provides, the integration of new cutting-edge technologies and its respect for the principles of sustainability and energy efficiency, with the installation, in particular, of photovoltaic panels and the construction of a laboratory wastewater treatment plant and a solid medical waste treatment plant.
A public facility providing tertiary care and services, this hospital will provide care, training, research, expertise, innovation and public health services. To this end, it includes a Specialty Hospital (586 beds) which houses a "medical-surgical" pole, pneumology, hematology, endocrinology, cardiology, ENT, neurology, nephrology, ophthalmology and nuclear medicine services. In addition, there is an "Emergency and Intensive Care" unit with an emergency department for adults, an intensive care unit for patients with cardiovascular diseases and a plastic surgery and severe burns treatment service. It also includes units for the treatment of sleep disorders, bone marrow transplants, obesity treatment and cardiovascular rehabilitation.
The "Mohammed VI" University Hospital of Tangier also houses a "Mother and Child" Hospital (211 beds) with a medical-surgical pole and an "Emergency and Intensive Care" pole, a pediatrics service and a procreation medical assistance unit (AMP).
The University Hospital also has a medical emergency service (SAMU), a trauma center, a medical imaging service, bacteriology/microbiology, hematology, anatomy and pathology, molecular genetics and 3D printing of medical devices laboratories (LABFAB).
It also has an operating room (31 rooms) equipped with the latest technology and fully computerized. The CHU also includes a central pharmacy - with a robotized system for the automated storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals for the benefit of patients in the various hospital services - educational and training areas, a large conference room, a heliport and other administrative and technical facilities.
The CHU also includes a museum, a place of memory containing a rich collection of photos, books and scientific objects that enable visitors to learn about the evolution, throughout history, of medical equipment and hospital infrastructures in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
As part of its efforts to optimize patient care and quality of care, the new university hospital center has a Hospital Information System, an integrated digital device based on the concept of a shared digital patient file that brings together all the patient's data: administrative data, medical file and care file.
Available in both primary care and hospital facilities, this system, which is one of the pillars of the remodeling of the national healthcare system, allows healthcare professionals to access the patient's medical data at any time, through a card and/or a bracelet given to the patient, with the aim of streamlining medical care and improving efficiency.
In line with the objectives of the "Tangier-Metropolis" program, which favors the development of healthcare, the "Mohammed VI" University Hospital Center of Tangier is one of the many development projects launched by Mohammed VI for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, in order to strengthen its international influence and attractiveness.
