Mohammed VI celebrates the Eid al-Fitr prayer in Rabat
To mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, went to the Ahl Fez mosque with the Crown Prince, Moulay El Hassan; Prince Moulay Ismail; and Prince Moulay Rachid; Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch; and the Imam of the Ahl Fez mosque in Rabat, Amir Al-Muminin; to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer commemorating the holy month of Ramadan.
After the prayer, Mohammed VI gave a speech in which he emphasised the correct behaviour of the faithful during the month that was celebrated in ‘an atmosphere of piety, spirituality, meditation and divine blessings’.
The monarch then proceeded to pardon 1533 people, some of whom are in prison and others at liberty, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice. Among those granted a pardon were 299 people who had previously been released and 1,203 detainees.
After the King's words, the Imam of the Ahl Fez mosque, Amir, Al-Muminin, mentioned the religious evening presided over by the King on the occasion of Laylat Al-Qadr, the night of the revelation of the first verses of the Quran. The imam offered prayers for the health and success of the King, the Crown Prince and the Royal Court and remembered the deceased Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II.
Finally, the king went to the Royal Palace, where he received the most important personalities of the country.
