Marruecos desarticula una red de emigración ilegal y narcotráfico
Moroccan police last night dismantled a network involved in drug trafficking and illegal emigration in an operation carried out in the city of Kenitra, some 40 kilometres north of Rabat.
The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) said today in a statement that the agents arrested seven members of this network, four of whom were arrested "in flagrante delicto" while organising the departure of a skiff with 22 people on board.
The security services also seized 14 kilograms of hashish and an amount of money in foreign currency in a vehicle allegedly used by the detainees in their illicit activities.
The rest of the suspects were arrested in a small boat off the coast of the Bugaba region, near Kenitra, and were carrying on board eight canisters of petrol with a total quantity of 60 litres.
The arrestees were remanded in custody at the disposal of the judicial enquiry, the statement added.
