The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency launched Thursday in the Holy City the humanitarian aid operation in the esplanades of the Augusta Victoria Hospital (Al-Mutlaa), in the presence of the director in charge of the management of the Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, a number of religious dignitaries, eminent personalities of Al-Quds and representatives of social institutions.

In an official statement, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency said that this operation is part of the constant supervision of the city of Al-Quds and its population, through the role played by the Agency, under the direct supervision of King Mohammed VI, for more than a quarter of a century, to contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic situation of the inhabitants of the Holy City and support for the institutions of the city.

This humanitarian aid consists of the distribution of 2,000 food baskets for the benefit of 2,000 needy families, consisting of 22 basic products, including those for children and others for people with special diets.

It was also planned to distribute 1,000 meals a day, covering a large part of the food needs of the beneficiaries during the fasting month of Ramadan, which is so important for Muslims, particularly those on the lists of associations linked to the Agency and those who are in hospital or living in nursing homes.

In managing the food aid distribution operation, the Agency has taken into account a number of special provisions and a well-defined timetable that takes into account the situation in Al-Quds, in strict compliance with the health and safety conditions of the products.

The beneficiaries of the food baskets and meals are distributed throughout the various neighbourhoods of Al-Quds, including Al-Balda Al-Qadima, Salouan, Cheikh Jarrah, Chaafat camp, Attaouri, Al-Isawiya, Qalandia camp and Al-Ram.

The assistance also includes the provision of an emergency coordination room at Jerusalem Hospital.

This aid, which coincides with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, aims to alleviate the suffering of the Muslim population and Palestinians in the area, in particular the most vulnerable groups. This large-scale humanitarian operation for the benefit of the population confirms the effective commitment and constant concern of King Mohammed VI, as chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the Palestinian cause.

In addition, humanitarian land aid ordered by King Mohammed VI was also made available for the people of Gaza, consisting of more than 40 tonnes of food, including basic necessities. In addition to the institutional aid, deployed in particular through the Mohammed VI Foundation for Solidarity, King Mohammed VI took charge of a large part of the aid delivered with his own personal funds, including in particular that for infants and young children.

Since the outbreak of the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas more than five months ago, Morocco is the first country to use this unprecedented land route to deliver humanitarian aid directly to the beneficiaries

Relevance of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency

The mission of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, founded in 1998, is to make the Holy City of Jerusalem a land of coexistence between religions, based on the Islamic values of tolerance, peace, understanding and solidarity between peoples.

King Mohammed VI is the president of the Al-Quds Committee and represents the figure of Commander of the Believers, an Islamic title traditionally associated with the figure of the caliph, which indicates that its bearer is the highest religious authority among Muslims, with the mission also to work for the peaceful coexistence of the different monotheistic religions, something of great importance in a city like the Holy City of Jerusalem.
