Through this re-election, the Moroccan kingdom reaffirms its role as a reliable partner in consolidating the principles of international cooperation and dialogue at the United Nations

Morocco was re-elected, in the person of Ambassador El Hassane Zahid, on Friday in New York, as a member of the United Nations International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) for a new four-year term, starting on 1 January 2025, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.

This re-election illustrates the recognition and confidence of UN member states in the Kingdom of Morocco's continued commitment to multilateralism.

This distinction also demonstrates the positive impact of the Alawi country's efforts to promote high standards in human resources management within the UN system and in international governance in general.

The Kingdom of Morocco's participation in global governance institutions reflects Morocco's willingness, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to position itself as an advocate of universal principles, while implementing policies that promote sustainable development, human resources development and the consolidation of international peace and security.

An expert at the Policy Center for the New South and a member of the International Civil Service Commission since 1997, El Hassane Zahid was previously Ambassador to Thailand for His Majesty the King, with accreditation to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam from December 2003 to July 2010.

The International Civil Service Commission is a key organ of the United Nations system, composed of independent experts elected by the UN General Assembly.

It is responsible for regulating the conditions of service of staff within the United Nations common system and for promoting high standards in the international civil service.
