Morocco's ambassador to Spain praises her country's solidarity with the Spanish people
Morocco has reiterated its solidarity with Spain following the floods in Valencia through its ambassador in Madrid, Karima Benyaich, who has conveyed her condolences and offered ‘all the necessary support’ to the Spanish government, according to Europa Press.
The ambassador stressed that this support reflects the solid relationship between the two countries, praising the Moroccan associations and the many volunteers who contributed with their help and solidarity to consolidate the bonds of brotherhood that unite the Moroccan and Spanish peoples.
She also stressed the solidarity of the Moroccan community in Spain, which has also suffered human losses as a result of the floods, with seven dead and eight missing. In total, the passage of the DANA has left 215 people dead in the Valencian Community.
In this regard, Benyaich also revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad immediately mobilised to provide assistance to Moroccans living in the areas affected by the floods.
This gesture of solidarity, according to Benyaich, is a reciprocal response to the aid Spain provided to Morocco after the earthquake of September 2023. However, despite the destruction, the ambassador expressed her confidence in Spain's ability to overcome this tragedy and reiterated Morocco's commitment to stand by Spain's side in these difficult times.
Benyaich affirmed that this support represents her nation's firm determination to contribute effectively to the relief efforts in a spirit of cooperation and brotherhood with Spain. The ambassador believes that the momentum of national solidarity with Spain resonated with the Moroccan community living in Spain, which responded with an exemplary mobilisation to participate in the relief operations in the affected areas.
On the instructions of King VI, Rabat has mobilised a large logistical force to support relief efforts in the areas affected by the recent floods in the region of Valencia.
Following the natural disaster, the King instructed the Minister of the Interior to contact his Spanish counterpart and inform him that Morocco is fully prepared to send relief teams and provide all necessary assistance to Spain.
In total, the Kingdom has sent 24 pumping and suction trucks and 70 workers to Spain to support the relief efforts and provide assistance to the Valencia region.
