Morocco's role in defending Palestinian rights

Heads of State and Government participating in the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, held on January 19-20 in Mpala, commended the pivotal role of the OIC Al-Quds Committee, chaired by the King of Morocco, in upholding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish a sovereign, independent and viable state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Plan aimed at establishing two internationally recognized independent states.

In the Final Declaration adopted by the heads of state and government, MAP news agency reports, the Non-Aligned Movement noted "the political initiatives and humanitarian and social efforts made by Morocco, under the leadership of Moroccan King Mohammed VI, in order to preserve the interests and legitimate demands of the Palestinian people."

He also praised the role played by the Beit Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, as the executive arm of the Commission, in preserving the legal status and identity of the Holy City, as well as in protecting the places of worship.
