MSP warns of "chaotic outcome" of Polisario project

In an exclusive interview with the daily Essabah, the first secretary of the MSP, Hach Ahmed Bericalla, called for caution and the search for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Western Sahara.
According to Bericalla, the Polisario Project, the armed wing of the Polisario Front, was in a critical situation after the El Gargarat crisis in November 2020. Morocco's deployment of drones on the ground has accelerated the end of the war, according to Bericalla, who stressed that the new Saharawi political force refuses to let young people continue to sacrifice themselves in an asymmetrical, impossible, and useless war.
Instead, they hoped for a peaceful solution and a dialogue with the Kingdom of Morocco under international guarantees. Bericalla recalled the words of former Mauritanian President Ould Abdelaziz, who said that the West is opposed to the existence of a state between Morocco and Mauritania.
The first secretary of the Saharawi Movement for Peace rejected this statement and affirmed that new political forces in the Sahara are ready to cooperate with Morocco to find a peaceful and just solution.
"After the events in El Gargarat, the Polisario project was in a difficult situation," Bericalla said. "We must avoid a chaotic outcome and find a path towards peace and coexistence with Morocco. For this reason, we strongly support a peaceful solution and dialogue".
Bericalla also stressed the importance of signing a treaty with Morocco "without losers and winners" that would help the Saharawi's find a just and lasting solution. The First Secretary concluded: "It is time for us to put aside the fighting and find a way forward".
This interview with Hach Ahmed Bericalla calls for reflection and action to find a peaceful solution to the Western Sahara conflict. The MSP is ready to cooperate with Morocco and the international community to find a just and lasting solution. Peace and dialogue is the new strategy of the MSP and it is time for world leaders and political figures to come together to support this initiative.
