Moroccan consulates in Spain organized official receptions to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Green March at a key moment following the UN Security Council resolution presenting the autonomy plan for the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty as the basis for negotiating a real, credible, and lasting solution to the Sahara dispute.

National unity and commitment were the highlights of the celebrations, which also highlighted the work of Moroccans abroad in accurately communicating the legitimacy of Morocco's position and supporting the development and reform initiatives promoted by King Mohammed VI.

In Madrid, Consul General Kamal Aarifi emphasized that the commemoration of the Green March reflects the enduring commitment of Moroccans to the cause of territorial integrity, recalling the historical stages that led to the recovery of the southern provinces thanks to the unity between the Throne and the people, and the vision of King Hassan II, who led this peaceful march that marked a turning point in human history.

He added that the Green March is not only a historical event celebrated annually, but a continuous march of construction, development, and progress that is renewed with each achievement attained by Morocco in the defense of its territorial integrity and sovereignty, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. He underscored that the UN resolution on Western Sahara is the result of a successful diplomatic trajectory, conducted by Morocco with wisdom and strategic vision.

In Seville, Consul General Dunia Dalaleero highlighted the lessons and symbolism of the Green March and its importance in the current international context. She emphasized that the Security Council resolution recognizing Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara has made the autonomy model the only and best solution to resolve this conflict.

She also called on representatives of Moroccan civil society to raise awareness and promote this diplomatic achievement in Spanish society.

In Murcia, Consul General Sanaa Merouah highlighted the national and human values embodied by the Green March to recover the Southern Provinces by peaceful means, thus reaffirming the values of unity, fraternity, and solidarity.

She also underscored the positive developments following the adoption by the Security Council of Resolution 2797, which represents a new diplomatic victory for the Kingdom and reaffirms the legitimacy and fairness of the Moroccan position, consolidating the initiative for autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the only serious and realistic basis for reaching a definitive solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

In Algeciras, Consul General Abdellah Bidoud led the ceremony and highlighted the historical and patriotic importance of the Green March, stressing that Moroccans have signed their commitment to the King for national unity, whatever the cost. He highlighted the international recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara following the UN Security Council resolution and emphasized Morocco's confidence in diplomacy and international law.
