The governor of Russia's Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, Vyacheslav Gladkov, today denounced more than 300 Ukrainian artillery, mortar and suicide drone attacks on the province in the past 24 hours.
In the Graivoron district alone, where the armed assault by Russian paramilitaries took place a week ago, there were 101 mortar shell hits on Sunday, and 116 in the Shebekinski district, Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.
In the Belgorod district there were 63 hits from artillery shells and drones with explosive devices, while in the Volokonovsky district there were 23.
This morning, in turn, several localities were "under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine", resulting in four wounded, one of whom is in serious condition, Gladkov said.
The governor of Belgorod today proposed annexing the Ukrainian region of Kharkov to put an end to Ukrainian attacks that have grown in intensity in recent days.
"Kharkov should be included in the Belgorod region," he said in an interview published on Russian television.
"This is the best way to solve the problem of attacks on the regions of Belgorod and Kharkov," he added.
Gladkov said that Belgorod is not only subject to regular Ukrainian artillery attacks, but also to raids by saboteur groups.
"In practice, we live in conditions of war. Five groups of saboteurs have entered (the Graivoron district) so far" in the war, he said.
