Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenski denounced the Russian attack in the early hours of 28 April, which used missiles and drones, killing several people in the cities of Uman, Kiev and Dnipro. Zelenski strongly condemned the attack and called for condemnation by the international community to ensure Ukraine's security and territorial integrity.

The attack in the city of Uman killed at least twenty people. There was an attack by Russia, using Tu-95 strategic aircraft from the Caspian Sea region. One of the rockets hit a residential building in Uman in the Cherkasy region, causing material damage and fatalities

The head of Cherkasy OVA, Ihor Taburets, confirmed that there were two missile impacts in Uman, one on a residential building and one on storage buildings. In response, an operational headquarters was deployed at the Uman Gymnasium No. 5 to assist those affected. Meanwhile, a rescue operation is underway in Uman to assist victims and assess material damage.

Meanwhile, the Russian army carried out another massive missile and artillery attack in the Dniepropetrovsk region of Ukraine. The "Vostok" air commando managed to shoot down seven cruise missiles, but there were still fatalities and injuries. A private house in Dnipro was destroyed, killing a woman and her two-year-old daughter, while three other people were injured. In addition, a private company building was also destroyed by an enemy rocket, causing a fire that has been extinguished by the fire brigade. Separately, there was an artillery attack on the community of Chervonogrigorov in the Nikopol region, although there were no casualties in that incident. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 21 of 23 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were destroyed, as well as two unmanned aerial vehicles of the operational-tactical level.

President Zelensky reported on his Telegram account that the Russian air force hit infrastructure and civilians, and that ten residential buildings were hit by the bombing in the city of Uman. He also expressed his condolences to the victims in Dnipro. The attack is a clear violation of international law and an unacceptable act of aggression and the international community must take action to condemn this action and ensure the protection of civilians in Ukraine.

But the attacks did not stop. Earlier in the day, the Russian army carried out another of its missile attacks, but this time against Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. According to the head of the city's Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, 11 cruise missiles and two drones, probably launched from strategic aviation aircraft, were destroyed.

Fortunately, no civilian casualties or significant damage to infrastructure were reported. However, falling debris reportedly damaged power outages and damaged the road surface in the Obolon district of Kiev. Popko called on the population to be vigilant and not to ignore airborne warning signals. It should also be noted that in the early hours of 28 April, Ukraine issued a general air alert that lasted for about two hours.

Zelenski thanked the Ukrainian military who operate the anti-aircraft defences that protect Ukrainian cities from Russian missile and drone attacks. He also expressed his gratitude to the rescue teams working tirelessly to help those affected. It is important to recognise the courage and bravery of those working to protect and assist citizens in times of crisis and conflict. This new attack is an escalation in the tension between Ukraine and Russia, and shows the seriousness of the conflict in the region. It is essential that peaceful solutions are sought and that violence and serious consequences for the civilian population are avoided. The international community has an important role to play in promoting peace and stability in the region, and a strong response is expected from the Ukrainian government and the international community.
