DECLARATION OF THE V TERRITORIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL OF THE SPANISH FEDERAL COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN MOVEMENT ON THE SITUATION IN UKRAINE
On the occasion of the fifth working session of the Territorial Advisory Council, held at the headquarters of the Social Council of the University of the Balearic Islands in Palma, the representatives of the Territorial Councils of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement (CFEME) state:
- Our absolute condemnation of the armed aggression perpetrated by the Russian Federation against the Republic of Ukraine, which constitutes a flagrant, extremely serious and unprecedented violation in recent decades of the most elementary principles and rules of International Law, as well as of the values that inspire coexistence in Europe, on which European integration is based and for which the European Movement works throughout the continent.
- Our support for the political decisions taken by the European Council at its extraordinary meeting on 24 February 2022 and for the restrictive measures resulting from them, which will begin to be applied immediately. The responsiveness and unity shown so far by the European Council must be maintained and strengthened in order to continue to face a challenge that directly threatens not only Ukraine but all the values that the European Union represents.
- Our demand for an immediate withdrawal of Russian troops and the consequent restoration of the situation prior to the aggression, which guarantees respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and international peace and security.
- Our closeness to and solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their democratically elected institutions and authorities, who must feel the strongest possible material and political support from the European Union at this dramatic time.
