According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, this is the third attack in less than two weeks

At least ten pro-Iranian militiamen have been killed by an attack by allegedly Israeli planes, the third in less than two weeks against the province of Deir al Zur, located in eastern Syria and bordering Iraq, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Monday.
Of the ten dead, eight are of Iraqi nationality while the other two are Syrian, said the NGO, which is based in the United Kingdom but has a broad network of collaborators on the ground.

The Observatory noted that at least six explosions were heard this morning caused by attacks by planes "believed to be Israeli" and which took place in the town of Al Bukamal, in Deir al Zur, a province under the control of Syrian government forces..

These actions were aimed at ammunition depots and vehicles belonging to pro-Iranian militias, which were destroyed, according to the organisation. In the last eleven days there were two other attacks also allegedly perpetrated by Israel in the same province, according to the Observatory. These areas of Deir al Zur, including Al Bukamal and Al Mayadin, are a habitual transit point between Iraq and Syria for the Shiite militias that support the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad..

This action has not been claimed by any group so far. Israel's attacks follow one another on Syrian territory, as the country considers Iran's presence in Syria to be a threat to its security, though this is rarely confirmed. In parallel, the Syrian government has accused Israel of launching another three attacks over the past two weeks against positions of troops loyal to Al-Assad in the south and centre of the country, but without mentioning eastern Syria.
