The meeting served to reinforce the strategic alliance around the educational and social programme that the NGO is developing in Gorongosa National Park, in Mozambique, which since 2018 has improved the lives of nearly 1,000 children and young people in rural communities.

In addition, the First Lady of Mozambique and the president of the Cruzada por los Niños Foundation, Dr María Díaz de la Cebosa, have agreed to formalise a framework agreement for collaboration between the Government of Mozambique and the NGO Cruzada por los Niños. This framework agreement will lay the foundations for promoting and coordinating joint projects in the areas of education, social development and support for vulnerable children in the African country.

Gueta Selemane Chapo, who is very active in social and humanitarian initiatives, has promoted projects to support displaced communities and health in her country. At CIS University, together with Dr. Díaz de la Cebosa, she discussed the progress and challenges of the collaboration which, together with the Real Madrid Foundation, uses sport and education as tools for empowerment and the promotion of gender equality.

The trip included a tour of the university's facilities and meetings with volunteers and staff from international projects, consolidating institutional cooperation and the impact of educational programmes in Gorongosa, one of the main focus areas of the Cruzada por los Niños Foundation.

According to Dr. Díaz de la Cebosa, ‘The visit of the First Lady of Mozambique represents a fundamental step towards strengthening international cooperation and raising awareness of the real impact of our programmes in Gorongosa National Park. Sharing experiences and joining forces with committed leaders such as her allows us to advance our common goal: to transform the lives of thousands of children and young people through education and empowerment.
