The Fórum Canario Saharaui denounces the fraud against the Riojan Health Service for the stay of Brahim Ghali

The Fórum Canario Saharaui issued an official statement in which it denounced the swindle carried out against the Riojan Health Service in relation to the unpaid stay of Brahim Ghali, leader of the Polisario Front, to be treated for a serious respiratory ailment. 

The Forum has also indicated that it hopes that this fact will be included in the case which remains open in the Court of Instruction number 7 of Zaragoza.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE FÓRUM CANARIO SAHARAUI

The Fórum Canario Saharaui condemns the swindle perpetrated against the Riojan Health Service in relation to the unpaid stay of Brahim Ghali. We also hope that this will be included in the case that remains open in the Court of Instruction Number 7 of Zaragoza.

Fórum Canario Saharaui wishes to express its strongest condemnation of a new episode, the umpteenth, related to the stay in Logroño in 2021 of Brahim Ghali, in order to recover from COVID-19. Recent revelations have shown that his hospital stay in Logroño left a bill of 45,658 euros that remains unpaid, a fact that we consider unacceptable and a mockery of the transparency and justice that should prevail in our system.

It was already shameful that Brahim Ghali used false identities to enter Spain illegally in order to keep this stay secret, and that this fraudulent entry was pre-arranged with state, regional and local authorities in an organised scheme at different levels for his subsequent medical treatment. 

It was even more embarrassing when it was later shown that the falsification of documents was extended during the administrative procedures prior to admission to the hospital, including the forging of signatures. The irregularities committed during his telematic statement-taking for the Audiencia Nacional in relation to the pending lawsuits for crimes against humanity deserve a separate chapter. But what is unheard of is that, in addition to all of the above, the illustrious Ghali perpetrates a "sinpa" of biblical proportions close to 50,000 euros that have repercussions on the taxes of all citizens.

It is outrageous that Brahim Ghali, using false identities, has received treatment at the San Pedro Hospital in Logroño without assuming the corresponding costs. Something that, on the other hand, should come as no surprise to anyone who knows the character well. This episode, allowed by the complicity of certain authorities, is evidence of a total lack of control and rigour, bringing into focus the question of accountability and lack of transparency in the governmental management of Concha Andreu's previous autonomous government.

Furthermore, the authorities who have subsequently allowed and concealed these irregularities must be investigated and explanations must be given both for their action in relation to Ghali's stay, and for their subsequent inaction in concealing this debt from public opinion for unspeakable reasons. It is unacceptable that, after multiple claims and administrative procedures, the collection of this debt was concealed and remains unresolved, affecting public resources and public confidence in our institutions.

The Fórum Canario Saharaui demands that all necessary legal action be taken to recover the money owed and that those who facilitated and covered up the fraudulent activities linked to Brahim Ghali be held accountable. We also urge the competent authorities to ensure that situations like this do not happen again, protecting the interests of citizens and maintaining the integrity of our judicial and administrative system.

Finally, we hope that this disgraceful episode of hospital fraud will be included in the case that remains open in the Juzgado de Instrucción Number 7 of Zaragoza. Currently, the judge in charge of the case is still waiting without success for the response to the rogatory commission sent to Algeria, decreeing the search and capture of Ghali's son as one of the main suspects in the scheme. But, as it has just been shown, there are still a number of aspects to this case.
