The Guardia Civil arrests three people who were disseminating jihadist material

In a new action against terrorism, agents of the Guardia Civil's Intelligence Service, under the direction of the Central Court of Instruction No. 1 and the Prosecutor's Office of the National High Court, have arrested three people in various parts of Spain for ‘the alleged commission of terrorist offences’.
Both the two arrested in Seville and the one arrested in the autonomous city of Ceuta have been remanded in custody.

Both police actions are part of the Guardia Civil's initiatives against jihadist terrorism in Spain. The three detainees, according to the website of the Ministry of Interior, were under investigation, and the resident of Ceuta had already been arrested and convicted in May 2021. Prior to the arrest, he was on probation.
Despite being under supervision, he was found to continue to engage in jihadist activities on the internet, managing several social media profiles and encrypted messaging applications. He was in possession of a large amount of multimedia material related to the Daesh terrorist organisation, used to train, and incite terrorist attacks.

Simultaneously, two persons in the process of jihadist radicalisation were arrested. One of them used his social networks extensively to share posts praising terrorist organisations and was in possession of official multimedia material of the Daesh terrorist organisation. The third detainee had been radicalised since 2022, had a large amount of Daesh propaganda material and manuals for making explosives.
As stated on the Ministry's website, ‘these operations are of great strategic value in the search to reduce the radicalisation and recruitment capacities developed by terrorist organisations through jihadist propaganda, and to anticipate the action of individuals who meet security risk indicators’.

These interventions are part of the numerous actions carried out by the Guardia Civil to prevent terrorist attacks. In recent years, in collaboration with the Moroccan Armed Forces and intelligence services, more than 1,400 people have been arrested since 2020, which indicates the effectiveness with which the Moroccan and Spanish security forces work for the security of all citizens of both States.
