The Moroccan civil society in Spain condemns the hostile campaign against Morocco

Spanish civil society of Moroccan origin in Spain has sent a letter to the president of the Central Electoral Board, Miguel Colmenero Menéndez de Luarca, to strongly and categorically condemn the aberrant, scandalous and offensive poster, published by the Spanish party Frente Obrero, in the streets of Madrid, attacking Morocco and its national symbols.

"The undersigned, associations, activists and representatives of Spanish civil society of Moroccan origin in Spain strongly and categorically condemn the aberrant, scandalous and offensive poster, published by the Frente Obrero party, in the streets of Madrid, which presents, in an indecent and immoral manner, caricatures of the King of Morocco and the President of the Spanish Government, being despicable behaviour against Morocco and its national symbols", denounces Moroccan civil society in the letter to which Rue20 Español has had access.

"In this regard, we urge the electoral board to act accordingly and order the immediate removal of this poster which, far from having only the electoral effects it intends, violates, undermines and undermines the fundamental rights enshrined in our constitution, discriminates against groups and minorities and, not least, attacks the feelings of many citizens, as it had acted in similar situations by ordering the removal of offensive, sexist, xenophobic or illegal posters and banners," the letter adds.

"At the same time, we, the undersigned, request the opening of a judicial investigation to find out the source of financing of the Frente Obrero party since, according to various publications, third parties are behind this defamatory campaign, thus incurring in an alleged illegal financing of a Spanish party and the commission of an alleged crime of interference in the internal affairs of Spain with the aggravating circumstance of coinciding with a decisive electoral campaign in the democratic history of our country", it concludes.
