The MSP expresses its satisfaction with the positive momentum resulting from the latest meeting of the UN Security Council and the position of influential countries on the issue of Western Sahara.
After analysing the statements made by the UN envoys at the Security Council meeting on 14 April and the positions expressed before and after, by the governments of the United States and Spain through their respective ministers of foreign affairs, Marco Rubio and José Manuel Albares, the MSP cannot but highly value the interest shown by these governments and their renewed commitment to a peaceful solution to the problem of Western Sahara.
The MSP is aware that war and exile lead only to more loss of human life and suffering. Hence its firm commitment to a peaceful solution, based on the conviction that the life and future of the Sahrawi people depend on this and this alone.
Expressing its hope that these positions and events will soon lead to a dynamic in favour of the desired political solution, the MSP reiterates its confidence in the political dialogue that can be promoted by the UN envoy and the commitment of governments such as those of the United States and Spain to work for a lasting political solution based on broad, genuine Sahrawi self-government with international guarantees.
The MSP reiterates its willingness to collaborate and participate as another Sahrawi interlocutor in international efforts against war and for peace in Western Sahara.
