The Permanent Political Committee of the Movement Saharawi for Peace (MSP) describes as crucial the present historic moment for the solution of the existing dispute over Western Sahara

Convened by the first secretary, Hach Ahmed Bericalla, the Permanent Political Committee of the MSP met by telematic means to examine the situation in Western Sahara in the light of the latest developments and in particular resolution 2756 of the Security Council and the report presented by the personal envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Staffan De Mistura, in which he summarises his three years of good offices.

The main tasks and activities of the various bodies of the Movement pending before the end of the year and the programme for the year 2025 were also discussed, with the holding of the 3rd International Conference for Dialogue and Peace in Western Sahara planned for the first quarter of the year.

The members of the highest political body of the MSP underlined the decisive character of the year 2025 in the international efforts for the solution of the problem of Western Sahara and the need for the militants and leaders of the organisation to live up to the expectations and hopes placed by the Saharawis in the Movement.

The CPP welcomed the growing interest of the Saharawi population in the political project represented by the Movement and the proposal for a peaceful solution put forward at the Dakar Conference in October 2023.

In this regard, it reiterated its appeal to the Saharawi people as a whole to become aware of the importance of the current historic moment and to join the efforts of the SPM to contribute to the definitive settlement of the problem and to open a stage of peace, tranquillity and prosperity after half a century of exile, frustration and suffering.

Finally, the Permanent Political Committee was informed of the appointment by the first secretary of the experienced Saharawi journalist and political analyst, Salek Mohamed Rahal, as official spokesman of the MSP.
