The Abraham Accords remain in force.

In September 2020, the United States, under Donald Trump's first administration, sponsored the Abraham Accords, whereby several key Arab countries, such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, established diplomatic ties with Israel with a view to pacifying the Middle East and promoting its development, confronting destabilising and belligerent international actors, such as the Islamic Republic of Iran, a major political enemy of the American giant and the Israeli state.

Subsequently, other Arab nations joined, such as Morocco, which took advantage of its alignment with the United States to gain the support of Donald Trump's administration for its plan for autonomy for Western Sahara, and Sudan.

The Abraham Accords are undoubtedly very important for promoting peace in the turbulent Middle East region and other Arab areas such as North Africa, as well as fostering agreements of all kinds, including economic and military ones, to promote cooperation and large-scale economic development among the signatory countries.

Kazakhstan and the Abraham Accords

Kazakhstan now appears on the list of signatories. According to an announcement by President Donald Trump, Kazakhstan will join the famous Abraham Accords, thus adding a new partner, in this case from Asia.

The announcement was made following a telephone conversation between Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

‘We will soon announce a signing ceremony to make it official, and there are many more countries trying to join this club of strength,’ Donald Trump said on the social network Truth Social.

The Kazakh government officially confirmed that the accession process is progressing well: ‘Our long-awaited accession to the Abraham Accords represents a natural and logical continuation of Kazakhstan's foreign policy course, based on dialogue, mutual respect and regional stability.’

From the announcement by the US president, it appears that Kazakhstan's accession to the Abraham Accords is in its final stages. In fact, the Asian country already has diplomatic and economic relations with Israel and all that remains is to formally sign the Kazakh nation's accession to the list of countries that cooperate with Israel at all levels.

In addition, Donald Trump announced at a meeting with the Kazakh president and other leaders, such as Uzbek president Shavkat Mirziyoyev, important agreements such as a trade and economic agreement between the United States and Uzbekistan. Over the next three years, Uzbekistan will purchase and invest nearly $35 billion, and over the next ten years, more than $100 billion in key US sectors, including critical minerals, aviation, auto parts, infrastructure, agriculture, energy and chemicals, information technology, among others, according to the US president.

Alliances for Donald Trump

Donald Trump continues to seek to forge many more alliances in the face of the current changing geopolitical situation, in which the unipolar world led by the United States as the main global reference point after the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the end of the Cold War between the Western capitalist world and the Eastern communist world is being abandoned in favour of a multipolar world with several centres of power, from the United States to other powers such as China, Russia or emerging countries such as India, which claim to have a very important role in international spheres where important decisions are made at a global level.

Kazakhstan is a country that was part of the USSR, one of the republics that broke away from the Soviet conglomerate, and is of great importance in the Asian region due to its vast energy resources. However, Kazakhstan has significant reserves of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal. In addition, the Kazakh country has great potential in the nuclear energy sector, being the world's largest producer of uranium, and in terms of renewable sources, it has significant solar and wind energy resources, with plans to increase their use and reach 50% of energy production by 2050. It is therefore a country to be taken into account in relevant international agreements such as the Abraham Accords.

On the other hand, it is important to highlight the significant presence of Islam in Kazakhstan, one of the major religions alongside Orthodox Christianity. This would make it a new Muslim ally for the alliance established by the United States and Israel.
