Trump reaffirms recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara

In a message addressed to HM King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the Throne Day, the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, reaffirmed the United States' recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and its support for the Moroccan proposal for autonomy “as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to this dispute.”
“I also wish to reaffirm that the United States of America recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and supports the Moroccan proposal for autonomy, which is serious, credible, and realistic, as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to this dispute,” Trump emphasized in his message to the Sovereign.
Expressing his congratulations on behalf of the United States of America to HM the King and the Moroccan people, Trump said that "the United States of America greatly appreciates the strong and long-standing partnership that binds us to Morocco. Together, we work to advance our shared priorities for peace and security in the region, particularly through the Abraham Accords, fighting terrorism, and expanding the scope of trade cooperation that benefits both Americans and Moroccans."
“I also look forward to continuing our collaboration to promote regional stability, security, and peace,” concluded the President of the United States of America.
