US President Donald Trump said Saturday that the Israeli army “has temporarily suspended its bombing” of the Gaza Strip — contrary to new Palestinian medical reports of dozens of deaths in recent hours — and warned Hamas that he will not tolerate any further delays in talks to finalize his peace plan for the enclave.

I appreciate that Israel has temporarily stopped the bombing to give the opportunity to finalize the release of hostages and the peace agreement. Hamas must act quickly. Otherwise, gloves off," he warned in a new ultimatum posted on his Truth Social platform.

“I will not tolerate any further delays, which many believe will happen again, or any scenario in which Gaza once again poses a threat,” he warned, referring to Hamas' response on Friday to his plan, in which it agrees to release all Israeli hostages still in its custody but asks to negotiate a Palestinian consensus government with its participation.

“We are going to end this, quickly. Everyone will be treated fairly,” the president reiterated.

The Israeli army says it has reduced the intensity of its operations in Gaza City, according to military sources speaking to the Times of Israel. Publicly, however, its Arabic-speaking military spokesman, Colonel Avichay Adraee, says the siege on the enclave's most populous city remains in place.

For its part, the NGO Palestinian Center for Human Rights in Gaza has already documented at least 34 Palestinians killed since the US president declared on Friday night that peace talks for the Palestinian enclave were progressing and urged Israel to suspend its attacks on the Strip.

Since then, the NGO has documented 59 air and artillery strikes by Israel in less than 16 hours. Of those killed, 27 have been identified in Gaza City, five in Khan Yunis, and two in the center of the Gaza Strip.
