Two young men arrested in Melilla in an anti-terrorist operation
Two young men have been arrested in Melilla during an anti-terrorist operation carried out in different parts of the Spanish city. According to Europa Press, both detainees - one of them a minor - have been handed over to the Audiencia Nacional and will be flown from Melilla to Madrid to be brought before the judge in charge of the case.
This operation, which is part of the fight against terrorism, was the result of close cooperation between the Spanish police and the Moroccan Directorate General of National Territorial Surveillance, which indicates the importance of collaborative security efforts between the two countries to combat terrorist threats and improve bilateral cooperation to break existing links between terrorist cells, notes Hespress.
The operation also comes after authorities last week arrested a man in Avilés (Asturias) for distributing Daesh propaganda on social media, inciting a Muslim uprising in the city of Melilla.
That same week a man was also arrested in Itsasondo (Guipúzcoa) accused of alleged involvement in terrorist indoctrination offences on social networks, where he produced and disseminated propaganda publications of the terrorist group.
