The intentions of the US government and Morocco are to expand their relations, not only economically, but also militarily. According to spokesman Matthew Miller, the purpose of the call was to review regional and global developments, and to emphasise their continued commitment to further strengthen the US-Moroccan economic and security partnership.

The US government praised King Mohammed VI of Morocco for being "a crucial voice" on behalf of what it considered "advancing regional peace and his leadership in promoting a secure and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians". The secretary praised King Mohammed VI's leadership in promoting a secure and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians, as well as his critical voice in advancing regional peace in the framework of the Negev Forum.

The relationship has never been stronger than it is now. Since the US recognised Morocco's full sovereignty over the Sahara and its autonomy plan, which Washington deemed 'serious and credible', the two historic partners' relations have continued to improve and bilateral cooperation has increased in a number of crucial areas. This partnership is based on a number of agreements, including a shared dedication to peace, stability and prosperity. It has never been stronger than it is today.

The US position on the Sahara conflict is unanimous. The Secretary of State made this clear to the Moroccan minister, to whom he made it clear that, regardless of who governs, Republican or Democrat, the US position is immovable. In addition, during the call, Blinken pointed out that Morocco continues to be "the great African partner" whom they consider to be the most "serious, credible and realistic" position with regard to the autonomy of Western Sahara.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad Nasser Bourita and US Secretary of State Blinken discussed the importance of Moroccan leadership on security issues in the region. In a statement, Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States' unwavering support for Italian diplomat Staffan de Mistura, the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy, as he works to advance the UN Western Sahara process and find a just and lasting political settlement for the region and its citizens.

The illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine and the need to move towards a resolution of the Syrian conflict that complies with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2254 were issues addressed by the secretary. They also stressed the importance of fully respecting the recent ceasefire in Israel and Gaza, and the fight against jihadist terrorism.

The meeting also discussed the recent Israeli escalation in Jerusalem during Ramadan and the incident between Israel and Gaza in May. According to a statement accessed by Hespress AR, a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad strongly denounced the recent Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

The same source affirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI is the chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, denounces once again all violations and unilateral actions that would aggravate the situation and compromise efforts to maintain peace. "The approach of dialogue and negotiations is the only way to reach a comprehensive and lasting resolution of the Palestinian problem, based on resolutions of international legitimacy and the internationally accepted principle of the two-state solution," he added.
