The United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed on Wednesday to increase cooperation on "green and nuclear" energy and to collaborate on this issue ahead of COP28 next November in Dubai.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed held talks this morning, when they reiterated "their personal commitment" to strengthening the bilateral trade and defence relationship, according to a statement issued by London.

"They also discussed international security issues, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Iran's worrying destabilising activity," the note said.

The Prime Minister and the Sheikh also stressed the great importance of the two countries' defence collaboration, particularly in terms of "military cooperation and intelligence sharing".

They also noted that the UAE's pledge to invest £10 billion (11.68 billion euros) in strategic sectors in the UK is "moving faster than expected".
