Journalists, politicians, civil servants and former high-ranking Algerian government officials are included in this 'blacklist'

United Arab Emirates bans a number of Algerian nationals from staying in Algerian territory

Relations between the UAE and Algeria continue to deteriorate significantly due to aggressive Algerian political and media campaigns against Abu Dhabi. Tensions between the two countries are rising and, in response to Algiers' actions, the UAE has decided to draw up a list of Algerian personalities who are banned from staying in Algeria, according to Maghreb Intelligence.

Journalists, politicians, civil servants or former high-ranking Algerian government officials, many Algerian personalities are included in this 'blacklist', as sources tell the Moroccan portal. Members of Algerian political parties, economists and former Algerian military or civilian leaders will also be affected by this measure.

"These personalities have been included in a "black list" when they complete the necessary procedures to obtain visas for the United Arab Emirates. The Emirati authorities consider this measure as a 'sanction' against people who nurture a lobby violently hostile to the UAE in Algeria," according to Maghreb Intelligence.

This measure has prevented Algerian citizens from participating in international activities organised in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, which has fuelled strong anger in Algiers. It has also led the targeted personalities to contact the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly to ask it to take action and protest against the Emirati government.

According to Maghreb Intelligence, Algeria's ambassador to Abu Dhabi is said to have demanded explanations and official meetings with the Emirati authorities in order to find solutions to the blockades suffered by these Algerian personalities, who are considered 'undesirable' in the Emirates. But for the moment, nothing seems to have changed in Abu Dhabi, which no longer tolerates the violent campaigns carried out from Algiers against its symbols, its leaders or its geopolitical interests.
