Zelenski on war anniversary: "A year of pain, sadness and unity"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski recalled Friday the first anniversary of Russia's invasion with a message to Ukrainians in which he defined the last twelve months as "a year of pain, sadness, faith and unity".
"On 24 February, millions of us made a choice. Not a white flag, but a blue and yellow flag (Ukraine's). Not to run away, but to face. Confront the enemy. Resist and fight," the Ukrainian leader added.
He stressed that "it was a year of pain, sadness, faith and unity. And this is a year of our invincibility, we know that this will be the year of our victory," Zelenski emphasised in a video message posted on his Telegram channel.
At the same time, in another message posted on his website on Friday, the Ukrainian president said he had met with the army's top commanders to discuss arms production in the country.
"We addressed the issue of production and supply of ammunition and weapons. Of course, I cannot publicly disclose the details of this. But this is significant work. And I am glad to hear at the meeting of the military high command that even in these conditions we have the appropriate potential," he said.
