The "la Caixa" Foundation resumes construction work on CaixaForum València

CaixaForum

The construction works of CaixaForum València have been able to resume and are currently being carried out normally. Work on the interior of the Àgora building to build a new CaixaForum cultural centre had begun in March, and after a four-week forced halt during which non-essential work was not permitted, it has been possible to resume.

To do so, the project has taken all the health and worker protection measures established by the health authorities, following at all times all health and safety protocols set out in the regulations.

The investment by the "la Caixa" Foundation to carry out this long-awaited project will exceed 19 million euros, in addition to an annual budget of some 5 million euros for maintenance, programming and operation of the centre.

The project presented by the architect Enric Ruiz-Geli and his Cloud 9 studio was chosen to build a new CaixaForum inside the Àgora building in the City of Arts and Sciences, designed by Santiago Calatrava. The project respects, promotes and coexists with the Àgora, maintaining its original concept as a space for reflection and a large open, public and highly active cultural area. It will have two exhibition halls, an auditorium with a capacity for some 300 people, a bookstore, a restaurant and a family and educational space, with a total of 6,500 usable square metres.
