"De cara al mundo": international analysis on Onda Madrid
"De cara al mundo", the programme on Onda Madrid directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, deals with international current affairs every week.
Natural disasters have taken centre stage in recent days in North Africa. The earthquake in Morocco, which killed 3,000 people, and the floods in Libya, which killed 7,000, have dealt a severe blow to these two North African countries.
In Morocco, the High Atlas region has seen the worst effects of the earthquake in villages built of adobe that have been completely destroyed.
Difficulties of access due to their location and road closures with landslides have delayed the arrival of aid for the victims. Due to the characteristics of the houses in the region, Moroccan and international rescue teams from various countries have not had much chance of successfully carrying out their work. There have only been several notable cases involving children.
The solidarity of the Moroccans themselves stands out, who, from all parts of the country, have provided humanitarian aid, money and donated blood.
In Libya, bodies floating in the water, thousands missing and helplessness at the lack of aid in the Libyan city of Derna.
The dead are in their thousands in the city, devastated by storm "Daniel". The authorities are pleading for international help, but the scale of the tragedy and internal political problems are hampering the rescue effort.
Yahya Bellahcen, director of CAP Radio Morocco, will take to the microphones of "De cara al mundo" to explain the devastating consequences of these two disasters in North Africa.
Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine continues. The Ukrainian air force launched an attack on Wednesday on a shipyard in the port of Sebastopol in Crimea, which damaged two Russian military vessels. It is the most serious attack on Russia's Black Sea Fleet since the sinking of its flagship, the Moskva, in April 2022.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un promises Putin to "always be together" in his "holy war" against the West. The Russian president believes he has found a way around the UN resolutions and sanctions imposed on North Korea to get North Korea to provide him with the ammunition he needs on the Ukrainian front.
Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla and expert international analyst Lucas Martín will shed light on the latest details of the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory.
As every Friday, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. They will talk about the natural disasters in North Africa that have seriously affected Morocco and Libya and about the war in Ukraine.
"De cara al mundo", Friday 15 September from 22:05 to 23:00.
