‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, tackles global current affairs every week.

In relation to the war in Ukraine, Donald Trump, President of the United States, and Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, held a productive conversation lasting more than two hours, agreeing to meet in Budapest, with good results; the day before the meeting between Trump and the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski. The main topic of the meeting: US Tomahawk missiles.

In addition, due to the complex situation in Ukraine's energy system, emergency power cuts have been implemented in all regions. The cumulative impact of Russian bombing of Ukraine's electrical infrastructure is severe, and a new wave has begun. Russia is doing this just as the cold weather arrives, and the electrical grid can no longer cope.

On the other hand, Russia has 25,000 Cubans fighting in the war against Ukraine: they are its largest foreign legion.

Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla will analyse these issues on the programme ‘De cara al mundo’.

Meanwhile, the ceasefire in Gaza is in jeopardy due to constant skirmishes between Hamas and Israel. But above all, because Hamas claims it does not have the means to locate the bodies of the Israeli hostages that have yet to be handed over, while clashes between Palestinian factions and summary executions by Hamas of those accused of collaborating with Israel continue.

For its part, Israel is rationing the entry of humanitarian aid.

In other news, US President Donald Trump is increasing pressure on the Chavista dictatorship led by Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela by stating that the CIA has permission to carry out covert operations, and the US Navy has destroyed drug trafficking boats.

Expert international analyst Lucas Martín will provide the most relevant insights.

As every day, the discussion will feature Atalayar's regular contributors: Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. The debate will focus on the war in Ukraine with talks between Trump, Putin and Zelensky, the dangers threatening the ceasefire in Gaza and US pressure on the Venezuelan regime.

‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 17 October, from 10.05 p.m. to 11 p.m.
