‘De cara al mundo’: international analysis on Onda Madrid

De cara al mundo
The programme addresses the war in Ukraine, the protests in Iran, Trump's Peace Council for Gaza and the situation in Greenland

‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, analyses world news every week.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in Davos that this weekend, in the United Arab Emirates, three-way meetings will be held between delegations from the United States, Russia and Ukraine to continue negotiating an end to the Russian invasion.

Zelensky has criticised the West, which is capable of bringing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to justice but does not do so with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia.

Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla will analyse the situation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on ‘De cara al mundo’.

Protests in Iran continue to be the talk of the town. The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and its combat group arrive in waters near Iran. President Donald Trump announced a possible intervention if the Ayatollah regime continues its harsh repression of the protests, which, according to official figures, have caused more than 3,000 deaths. The opposition to the regime claims that the number of people killed exceeds 20,000. Donald Trump, President of the United States, has said that if the ayatollahs want to talk, as they have said, they will talk, easing the tension somewhat.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump officially presented in Davos the composition of the Peace Council for Gaza, which will have an executive committee made up of people he trusts most. In Davos, Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, presented a major project for the reconstruction of Gaza with a modern urban approach using the sea.

For its part, the controversy over Greenland and the aspirations of the United States continues. NATO has committed to the United States to guarantee the security and control of the Greenland region, which has ruled out possible forceful action by Trump and the imposition of tariffs, but has caused new mistrust among Europeans.

Expert international analyst Lucas Martín will offer the most relevant insights.

As every day, the discussion will feature Atalayar's regular contributors: Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. The debate will focus on the war in Ukraine, the protests in Iran, the Peace Council for Gaza and the situation in Greenland.

‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 23 January, from 10.05 p.m. to 11 p.m.
