‘De cara al mundo’: international analysis on Onda Madrid
‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, addresses global current affairs on a weekly basis.
The warnings issued by Donald Trump, President of the United States, to Iran are gaining weight and an operation similar to the one carried out in Venezuela may take place. US allies in the region, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have denied permission for US aircraft to fly over their airspace in an operation against Iran.
The European Union has decided to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, largely responsible for the repression of protesters that has caused thousands of deaths in the last three weeks, as a terrorist organisation.
Meanwhile, the European Union supports autonomy in the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty. The fifteenth session of the Association Council between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, which concluded on Thursday in Brussels, was marked by the adoption, for the first time, of a common European position on the Moroccan Sahara, which considers that ‘true autonomy may represent one of the most applicable solutions’ for the final resolution of the regional conflict.
Meanwhile, the EU and India have signed a historic free trade agreement that will affect 2 billion people and 25% of global GDP. After two decades of negotiations, the EU and India have concluded a trade agreement that will benefit the European automotive, wine and dairy sectors, as well as the Asian giant's technology, textile, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, with the exception of the agricultural sector.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will keep his promise to Donald Trump to respect a week without bombing Ukraine, which is suffering from sub-zero temperatures with its energy facilities destroyed by Russian attacks.
Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla will analyse the Ukrainian issue.
Also, the replacement of the head of the ICE anti-immigration agents in the United States and the announcement of a change in the method of action to detain irregular immigrants has eased tensions, but protests continue against Trump's decision and against the agents who killed a US citizen in cold blood.
Expert international analyst Lucas Martín will address the main issues.
As every day, the discussion will feature Atalayar's regular contributors: Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. The debate will focus on the protests in Iran, the EU's support for Morocco's autonomy plan for the Sahara, the war in Ukraine, the free trade agreement between the EU and India, and the controversial fight against immigration in the United States.
‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 30 January, from 10:05 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
